Dancing

This little girl has my heart.

She has had it since the first day she came to the safe-home.

I think everyone who meets her feels this same way.

She is a model of the resiliency of children.

To dancing.

Oh, to see her dance!

.....

The rash on her forehead...a side-effect of the ARV's she takes to combat her HIV...is a constant reminder of the challenges she still faces.

She'll take these ARV's for the rest of her life...although it is hoped that the side-effects will lessen as her body adjusts to the regiment.

Mamello will turn four years old on May 25th.

In the U.S., a child with HIV who is on the proper ARV regiment and receiving consistent medical care can live a relatively "normal" life.

Fortunately, ARV's are more readily available here than they were even just five years ago...although there are still many unknowns in a country like Lesotho...in its rural mountain villages far from medical care.

But with the help of her ARV's and the continuing development around HIV/AIDS treatment and education in Lesotho, there should be many more years of dancing to come for little Miss Mamello.
