During law school, I took a class in international women's rights.
Unbeknownst to me at the time I registered, this class had a service learning component.
The first day of class brought a bit of panic as I didn't know how I was going to fit these extra hours of volunteering into my already busy schedule.
As I walked into Odyssey World International for my first day of volunteering, I was already checking my watch, focused on all the things I needed to accomplish that evening.
Well my mental list-making was quickly forgotten when a whirlwind of a young women came laughing through the door.
From the moment I met Miss Ange Nmerimana I have been inspired.
I have been inspired by her smile and her laughter.
By her courage.
By her story.
I have been inspired by her appreciation for everything she has in her life.
In anticipation of her upcoming high school graduation, Ange was recently featured in the Spokesman Review.
Congratulations, Ange, on all you've accomplished!
I am lucky to know you.
