How on earth did all the circumstances of the world come together in such a way that I should be so lucky to be here in this moment?!
I rejoiced in this idea as I said goodbye to two soon-to-be-doctors who became inspiring friends over the last month.

I laughed at the improbability of it all as I found myself sharing the evening with a room full of South African "Wildmen" who had just finished the second day of the Lesotho Wildrun.
It floated through my mind as I collapsed into what I am sure was the most comfortable bed in the world in a 100-year old trading post in the Lesotho countryside.
I clung to this idea with more than a bit of terror as I plunged over the edge of the highest single drop waterfall in Southern Africa.

I relaxed into it as I celebrated a new friend's birthday...dining on wine and cheese nestled in front of a roaring fire.
I could not duplicate these experiences and these emotions if I tried.
Nor would I want to.
The unbridled uniqueness of each experience I have here reaffirms my commitment to this life I have chosen.
While I hope life continues to offer me these unique experiences...whether I am exploring new corners of the world or resting comfortably in the arms of my family and friends in Washington...I hope above all that I can continue to recognize each experience as an beautiful opportunity to learn, grow, and laugh.
