As you may have seen in a previous post, my best friend Jacquie got married about a month ago. She's always wanted me to make her a quilt but I told her that she had to wait until she got married. After seven years of dating, her and Ivan got hitched, so I made 'em a quilt. Of course I picked the double wedding ring pattern. As usual I didn't really know what I was getting myself into. As you can tell form the picture, this pattern is pretty intricate. I'm so glad I decided to use a pattern! It saved the rings from turning into squares, a plight like so many double wedding suffer from.
I tried desperately to get this quilt done before the big day, but alas with school and the craziness of life, I did not. Rather, I just finished it up and gave it to her this weekend. Unfortunately, Ivan wasn't there to open it with her, but I'm glad she choose to open it when I was there so I could see her reaction. She loved the blue, as it was her wedding color.
Weddings are beautiful occasions, but often leave a bride and groom with more stuff then they know what to do with. I love that I could give Jacquie and Ivan something unique and something that they'll hopefully keep for a long time as a special reminder of their big day. Oh and Jacquie did tell me that it was secretly one of her favorite gifts.
