"We walk because we must. We’re strong because the journey demands it. Together in body and united in spirit, we lay down our footsteps for this generation and the next. Our promise: a world without breast cancer." -Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure
I wanted to do something fun for my teammates during the 3-Day, so I made them cookies and fun little shoe flair things. When I was little, my madre made me these ribbons in every color to match every outfit. Of course, I would wear them in my hair rather than on my shoe. I thought they were the perfect way to brighten up our sneakers and tootsies that recieve so much use and abuse over 60 long miles.
To put these babies together, you simply wrap ribbon around a knitting needle, soak it with spray starch, put it on a cookie sheet covered with aluminum foil, and stick it in the oven for 20 minutes at 200 degrees. When they come out of the oven, pull it off the knitting needle, cut into approximately 5 pieces, and hot glue them to a small hair clip. That's it!
