The faces of the children are always the thing that sticks with me most when I visit a place. This is particular true of my time in Tanzania. Although it's been more than a year since I did the hokey-pokey with these little ones, I am still immediately recalled to the dirt yard where we'd play "KIMBIA!" when I see these photos. Each little face makes me so happy I want to burst. The people of Tanzania are so full of joy and love that it is often hard to reconcile their fervor for life with the images the media paints of Africa. I think nothing paints this picture better than this video.
As a volunteer through Cross Cultural Solutions, I spent a month teaching at Tulivu Kindergarten in Moshi, Tanzania. Everyday I wish I could go back to this experience. In the future I hope to find a way go back to Africa and learn more about the culture, the issues that plague many regions of Africa, and the joy that overcomes of these issues.
