book review: Mockingjay

I can't quite express just how excited I was about the third and final installment of the Hunger Games.  While the plot of the series seems very strange on first impression, in my opinion, Suzanne Collins has given us the most enthralling young adult fiction since Harry Potter.  I certainly was not let down by Mockingjay.  It was endlessly suspenseful, emotional, and shocking.   Collins supplied a number of unexpected plot twist in true Hunger Games style.

My one small criticism was the amount of violence.  I know, I know...some violence has to be expected with the nature of the plot.  I just felt like Mockingjay really stepped up the violence.

Despite the success of this series, there's a lot of people out there who aren't familiar with it.  Thus it has become my new "You HAVE TO, HAVE TO, HAVE TO read this book!" for young adults and regular adults (regular adults?) alike.

Oh yeah and without spoiling the end... I wish she ended up with the other boy!
