The Drakensberg

This weekend we took a quick trip to Royal Natal National Park, one of the many geographic wonders in the Drakensberg Mountains.

We climbed to the top of the Amphitheater, a colossal rock face roughly ten times the size of Yosemite's famous El Capitan.

After pulling ourselves up some oh-so-scary chain ladders to the top of the escarpment, we were met by stunning 360 degree views of South Africa.

And we kinda saw the world's second highest waterfall, Tulega Falls.

Well, we saw where the waterfall should be...but there was not one drop of water flowing down it.

Guess we'll have to come back in the rainy season.

...

My other big accomplishment of the weekend?

My first extended solo trip driving a manual!

I know it's not that big of an accomplishment, but it's something I'm very relieved to have mastered.

When my first lesson in Spokane lasted about thirty seconds before I declared I would never learn to drive a stick-shift, I thought this would never happen.
