They could take any name that I made for myself.
They could take any pride I've got as well.
But there are some things I can't afford to loose.
I could be nobody as long as I'm someone to you.
Yeah, I could keep chasing the rabbit out front.
But you know that's a race I don't care to run.
So I lay down any dreams of a vain success.
Oh, I'd rather run to you instead.
So let's get face to face.
Look me straight in the eye.
I want these words I say to echo true inside.
I could hold the world in my hands.
I could let it slip right through.
I could be nobody as long as I'm someone to you.
-Andy Gulhorn
These are lyrics (not all of them...just the beginning) from a song that has been running through my head endlessly lately.
They remind me of my desire to live for others.
I feel the most happy and peaceful in the moments I am able to embrace this.
But it's hard.
I get wrapped up in distractions.
It's something I'm working on.
As you can probably tell, this is a Christian song...the singer directing these thoughts and words toward God.
I'm not a very religious person...but I fully embrace his message in these words.
Often when I listen to this song I think of people I'm yet to know.
I think of the people whose suffering I hope to share and lighten.
I think of the baby I hope to adopt one day.
